Louise’s Special Selections are ideal wines to begin to discover, taste, and consider for this Christmas season. The selection, put together by Louise O'Brien, head of wine, Cavavin Ireland, includes a mix of reds, a rosé, and a Champagne.
Rosé? Is it suddenly summer? M de Minuty rosé makes a great statement in your glass all year round. It is hugely versatile with food and incredibly refreshing as we tuck into heavier meals. It is also perfect as we begin to attend more events and are in need of a light chilled aperitif alongside our canapés.
There are also some classic reds in the mix, Bottega Valpolicella Ripasso 2018, Tamaral Ribera del Duero Tempranillo, and Chateau Étang Corbieres (Grenache-Syrah-Mourvedre blend ) from France. Reds that are mellow and smooth, and that crave a wing-backed chair, a roaring fire, and crackling tunes on the record player.
Saving the best until last, Haton Brut Extra Champagne (91/100 Wine Enthusiast ). Champagne symbolises Christmas in my opinion - sparkles, fizztivities, celebration, and all round good cheer which everyone looks forward to this time of year.
