Captivating Irish Singer/Songwriter Paddy Dennehy To Perform New Release at Monroe’s Live

Not many musicians can say they received their big break after being noticed by Glen Hansard. But for singer songwriter Paddy Dennehy, the support of the Oscar winning Hansard catapulted his career, after he was discovered playing Hard Times on an old upright piano at the back of Benner’s Hotel in Dingle.

This chance meeting ended in a personal invitation by The Frames lead singer to join him on-stage at the Everyman Theatre in Cork.

Since then, Dennehy’s ability to captivate an audience with his lyrics and unique vocal sound has led him to supporting the likes of Imelda May, Mick Flannery, and Lisa Hannigan. Dennehy writes from the heart. Tales of love, loneliness and personal recollections are interwoven into his music.

Deeply influenced by Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen, Dennehy is ultimately a storyteller. As such, he has connected with a loyal following, especially in the wake of appearances on The Late Late Show and on stage at Electric Picnic.

Originally from County Limerick, Dennehy wrote his upcoming album from the seclusion of his father’s farm. This rural location gave him a chance to reflect, crafting a classic masterpiece that is set to become integral to the Irish music scene.

Having just released his latest single, Heaven Not Far, the wordsmith delivers this powerful tune with his own inimitable flair. The catchy rhythm ensures you will remember the chorus from first listen, while moved by the rousing spirit of the song.

With gigs lined up at landmark music venues across the country, we are fortunate that Paddy Dennehy will delight fans in the west of Ireland on Friday, October 28th at Monroe’s Live. Doors open at 8pm. Tickets cost €12.00 plus booking fee and are available from here
