GRETB Further Education & Training Centre now accepting applications for Skills to Advance - care of the older person QQI Level 5

GRETB Further Education & Training Centre on the Tuam Road (H91 Y8C2 ), Galway, is now accepting applications for its Care of the Older Person module. This module is funded through the Skills to Advance initiative for people in employment living/working across the Galway and Roscommon region.

This module is ideal for anyone hoping to work in elderly care in public, community and private sectors. This module has been designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and competence to meet the needs of older people in a variety of care contexts and to help you develop an awareness of the increasing needs of older people in the community.

On completion of this module you will have up-to-date knowledge of the provision of services for older people and their families and an understanding of the importance of quality assurance. You will learn how to communicate effectively with the older person, families, and multi-disciplinary teams, and adapt care practices to meet individual needs. You will also develop your knowledge of health promotion and how to support others in enhancing the quality of life for the older person.

This course is run over one afternoon a week (Wednesdays 2pm to 4pm ) for 24 weeks, commencing this month (October ).
