The Quays Bar wins gold at Bar Awards

The Quays Bar and Music Hall has been awarded first place for Ireland’s ‘Best Live Entertainment Bar’ at the Bar of the Year awards.

The award ceremony took place olast week in The Clayton Hotel, Dublin, with a selection of Ireland’s most reputable bars in attendance.

After a couple of difficult years for the hospitality industry, it was a well-earned night of wining and dining. The night itself was a symbolic one, celebrating the recovery and return to form of many great bars throughout the country.

In a highly contested category throughout Ireland, The Quays Bar came out on top in the ‘Best Live Entertainment Award’. The award was accepted on the night by Eddie and Louise Fitzgerald, on behalf of The Quays Bar.

The award proves a great tribute to General Manager, Seamus McGettigan, a driving force behind The Quays for almost 30 years. A man with a great ear for musical talent, Seamus has been central to the success of the live entertainment schedule. The Quays continues to be a stronghold within the Galway music scene, with an ample serving of trad, rock and acoustic music all throughout the week.

A significant venue, the music hall was the residence of the hugely popular TG4 talent show ‘Glór Tíre’. Many great talents have been discovered through the televised show, with The Quays playing its part as an important venue for the country and western scene.
