Experience the spirit of flamenco at the Black Box

FLAMENCO, THE vibrant, passionate music and dance style, a fusion of the Islamic, Jewish, and Spanish cultures of Andalucia, will take over the Black Box Theatre on Friday June 12.

Fatima Lucia, and her group Al-Andar, will perform traditional flamenco dance and song in their new show The Spirit Of Flamenco. The show is an exploration of Andalucian culture, featuring experienced dancers, musicians, and singers together for a fiesta to remember.

Fatima’s captivating stage presence and high energy performance burns with the intensity of Andalucia’s ferocious sun. Juan Lande is a leading figure among male flamenco dancers in Spain. The two dancers measure up to Juan Hernando’s intricate guitar beats and Ornella Gulisano’s compelling singing. Juan Hernando will display his guitar prowess on a number of solo pieces.

Fatima Lucia, a native of Cadiz, the spiritual home of flamenco, is the leader and director of Al Anda', a team of artists dedicated to conveying the unique sensitivity and passion of this tradition. Fatima has been teaching flamenco dance in Galway since 1993 when she settled in Ireland.
