Following a mid season break Galway WFC return to WNL action with an away encounter against Wexford Youths at Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday (6pm ).
Alan Murphy's improving outfit haven't suffered a defeat since April, embarking on an eight match unbeaten run. That provides significant encouragement, but Murphy is expecting a demanding test in Wexford.
"It is an interesting one straightaway back, Wexford, after having a great result against Shels so we will have it all to do," Murphy says. "It is not an easy place to go. We will see how we react.
"We are back in training this week, obviously some of the girls are finishing up with the Leaving Cert and some of the girls are away on U19 duty. It is a little bit all over the place again, but that seems to be the nature of it. We will prepare as much as we can to see how we hit the ground running after the break."
While the sabbatical offered an opportunity to assess how the campaign has unfolded, Murphy is very much focused on ensuring Galway WFC remain consistent. "We don't want to look back, we'd rather look forward," he says.
"We reflected on it, we have learned a lot, we have grown as a group. The group will change, we will lose a few and gain a few. We are very much focused on game by game. We have Wexford this weekend."
Challenges exist preparing for the Wexford match with several players on international duty, but Murphy remains optimistic about Galway WFC's potential. "We are down four players that are going away with the Ireland U19s this week so we won't see them until we get to Wexford," Murphy responds.
"Unfortunately that is the way it is. We have a very young squad, a lot of Irish internationals which is great so we can't be negative on that one. It is just a matter of managing it properly, trying to get the best out of the entire group. Also carrying on where we come from in the first phase, by just trying to push forward."
