“Nonsense” is how Fine Gael councillor Brian Walsh has described claims by Fianna Fáil Galway City West candidate Peter Keane that the current body of city councillors have “ruined the city”.
Cllr Walsh countered by saying that the Fianna Fáil led council of 1999 to 2004 “gave us Eyre Square and clamping, both of which did untold damage to the city”.
He added that the recent water crises in Galway “were caused by underinvestment by FF during the boom years”.
Cllr Walsh has urged people to go out and vote tomorrow and use the election as a referendum on the Government parties.
“By staying at home and not voting,” he said, “people will send a message that they are satisfied with the way FF are leading our country.”
