ALÁ COMMUNITY Theatre will open it’s new venture, the ALá Multicultural Theatre Workshop, this Tuesday in the Ballybane Community Resource Centre.
The workshop is designed for a mix of students of all nationalities, ethnic backgrounds, and traditions and will take place every Tuesday from 7.30pm to 10pm at the centre.
Using theatre skills, storytelling, theatre games and improvisation, students will explore what it means to be an immigrant or a newcomer, what ‘home’ means to each participant. The workshop will finish with a very special performance created by the workshop participants themselves, performed in community venues.
There is no course fee for the workshop, but a per-class donation of €7/5 is requested.
ALâ is also accepting new students for its theatre skills workshop, every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 10pm at the Ballybane Community Resource Centre. It offers basic theatre and acting skills, theatre games and improvisations.
Workshop members will also have the opportunity to be part of the ALâ Advanced Workshop’s production of The Alice Project, based on Alice In Wonderland, at the Town Hall Studio in November.
