Exciting times abound at Rahoon/Newcastle GAA as they recently held a fundraising launch for their new pitch in Thonabrocky. They are so grateful to everyone who came and it was very encouraging to see so many club members as well as members of the wider community in attendance.
They were honoured to have Philip Mahony, Captain of the All Ireland Club Hurling Champions Ballygunner, as their special guest on the night - a truly inspirational man both on and off the pitch.
Chairperson Tony Óg Regan shared the club’s vision for the future of Rahoon/Newcastle GAA and encouraged club supporters and members to help the ‘Fund the Pitch’ campaign for their children and community to form lifelong friendships, and to improve health and fitness by providing much needed additional facilities for the club.
All donations are much appreciated and can be made through www.rahoonnewcastle.ie Complimentary refreshments were provided by Mr Waffle on the night. Huge thanks to Kevin and his crew for their generous support as always. They also presented the recent winners of their lotto jackpot with their cheques. Congratulations to Jarlath Carr, Tonabrocky and Mairtin Coyne, Keeraun who received €9,700 each!
The club is excited to bring back The Thonabrocky Challenge/Family Fun Run & BBQ on Saturday June 4 which promises to be a great day out for all.
Mile buíochas to all of their players, coaches, parents, members and sponsors for their continued support. The future is bright for the maroon and white - Rathún/Caisleán Nua abú!
