Ruthless United win again

John Caulfield's team cruised to victory

Wexford FC 0 Galway United 4

This proved to be an utterly satisfying evening for Galway United, who ruthlessly dimissed Wexford FC, at Ferrycarrig Park.

John Caulfield's charges, gaining belief and momentum, delivered a dynamic display to earn the full complement of spoils.

The opening period was all about United’s organisation and enthusiasm.

Solid defensively, United carried a real threat too, particularly at set pieces, hitting the front early on.

Alex Moody saved an Ed McCarthy effort in the eighth minute, but United pounced from the resultant corner.

Conor McCormack, who controlled the tone and tempo, passed to David Hurley and his sweet delivery was met by a Killian Brouder header.

Stephen Walsh added a second in the 14th minute providing a gorgeous finish.

A third was planted in the 27th minute courtesy of Walsh, who scored following a Hurley corner.

After the restart United remained in the ascendancy with Hurley sealing the deal with a 69th minute penalty following a Joe Manley foul on the industrious Walsh.
