Improving Galway WFC host Treaty on Saturday

Galway WFC enjoyed a 2-1 win over Sligo Rovers

Having stitched a three match unbeaten run together, Galway WFC will be hoping to deliver another dynamic display in the WNL when hosting Treaty United at Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday (6pm ).

Alan Murphy's charges came from behind to defeat Sligo Rovers 2-1 at the Showgrounds courtesy of goals from Becky Walsh and Shauna Brennan. "As I suggested before the game I knew Sligo would be pretty well organised, they are an improving side," Murphy says. "We probably should have won the game by a little bit more if I'm being honest, but we didn't. We had to grind it out in the end."

Momentum is being generated by Galway with Murphy relishing the busy schedule. "That is the good thing in terms of sport you get games Saturday-Saturday-Saturday so you cannot be down or up for too long because you have to prepare again," Murphy adds.

"We are looking forward to Saturday now because we have two home games coming. We have put a few nice performances together and have a nice bit of confidence, that is important for any sport too - that your group of players go into the game confident. I'd be hoping for a similar performance, and if we get a similar performance we would be happy with that, hopefully that will bring what is needed."

Murphy remains optimistic that Galway WFC can enjoy a productive campaign. "In the last few weeks we have come together as a group a lot more - you can probably see the fruits of that," Murphy says.

"It is going to change again probably in the next while - you will have a few players leaving and you might have one or two coming in again. There is a lot of good work done, but there is an awful lot more to do. It is a long season, the first third has finished and we are going to reflect on that, to see where we can improve, how we performed to move on to the second section."
