Important weekend ahead in underage leagues

Galway United and Galway WFC teams are in action

A promising Galway United U19 outfit face a tough test away to St Patrick’s Athletic in Dublin on Sunday.

Brendan O’Connor’s team cruised to a convincing 7-0 win over Cobh Ramblers with David Tarmey (2 ), Gerard O’Riordan (2 ), Gradia Lomboto, Aaron Neary, and Stephen Healy scoring.

Donnacha Sammon was on target again as Martin Devlin’s U17 side drew 1-1 away to Derry City. A home fixture against Dundalk is next for Devlin’s charges.

Eoin Hannon and Corey Lavery McCay registered goals as Anthony O’Neill’s U15s defeated Athlone Town 2-0 at Lissywollen. United U15s host Bohemians on Sunday in a critical fixture.

Galway WFC U17s overcame Carlow-Kilkenny 7-0 with goals courtesy of Rhianne Ryan (3 ), Isabelle Fitzpatrick, Jodie Griffin, Áine Nolan, and Ciara Coen. An away contest to Waterford is scheduled for this weekend.
