Night of classic hits in Monroe’s for Ukraine

DJ Gareth O’Callaghan to host an 80s and 90s music fundraiser for the Red Cross

ONE OF Ireland’s favourite DJ’s, Gareth O’Callaghan is hosting an eighties and nineties night in Monroe’s Live on Thursday March 24, with all proceeds going to Red Cross and its work in Ukraine.

News feeds have been dominated by images of refugees fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine, especially those of children walking miles not knowing where they are going to live or where to find their next meal. The Red Cross is helping these children, and their families by providing food, water, shelter, hygiene supplies, and medicine.

“I was at home watching all the devastating scenes, in particular the children, so I put out a tweet asking if anyone would be interested in providing a venue to host a night of dancing to raise money for Ukraine,” said Gareth O’Callaghan. “Gary Monroe got in touch and now we have a fundraiser.”

“When I saw Gareth’s tweet it was a no brainer,” said Gary Monroe, owner of Monroe’s Live. “It is so hard to watch what is going on in Ukraine, I am delighted to be able to do something to help these families.”

Doors are at 8pm. All proceeds will go to the Red Cross Ukraine appeal. Tickets are €20 via https://monroes.ie/products/an-evening-for-ukraine
