This summer will see Irish traditions brought back with a clash of the ash in Kinvara with Feile Cuchulainn taking place from June 12 to 14 .
Feile Cuchulainn, or The Road Hurling Festival, is more than a celebration of Irish traditions, it is a remembrance to all the great GAA men and woman of the past. The sport of hurling is more than just a game, for many it has become their first love, a sport that makes them proud to be Irish.
Saturday June 13 will see special guests such as Galway senior hurling manager John McIntyre and great Irish sportsmen Cyril Farrell and Michael Duignan reminisce on their hurling days at the Merriman hotel, Kinvara, where guests are invited to go along and share their stories in an evening of celebration. Sean Walsh, MC on the night, is sure to get the crowd going and the atmosphere promises to be electric.
Feile Cuchulainn is set to be a weekend of craic and ceoil with entertainment for all ages over the three day event. With plenty of sporting games and competitions there will be no lack of excitement. Clubs are encouraged to enter a team of three players to compete for the title of Kings of the Road. The team will have to puc a sliotar along a 3.5 mile road, with winners being decided on by the least number of pucs needed to do so.
