Pathways to Palestine to cycle into Galway on Sunday

This week four young Irishmen will undertake a mammoth task when they attempt to cycle from Ireland to Gaza in little more than two months.

The cyclists, who will stop off in Galway on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, will undertake their 4,000 mile journey to the Middle East to raise money for the renowned charity Medical Aid for Palestinians.

The cyclists are Eoghan Quinn (21 ), a type-1 diabetic from Waterford; his brother Gearóid, a former resident of St Mary’s Road; Ronan Sheehan (21 ), also from Waterford; and Gearóid Ó Cuinn (29 ), from Waterford.

The group is calling itself Pathways To Palestine and after completing the Irish leg of their journey, they hope to sail to France on June 22, before continuing their cycles on the continent.

As they travel, the Pathways To Palestine team can be tracked live via their website. They estimate that the cycle will take 40 days and pass through at least 14 countries, cycling a minimum of 100 miles per day.

While all donations are welcome, the group is encouraging donations by ‘selling’ their 4,000 mile journey. One mile ‘costs’ €25/£20, and once you ‘buy’ your mile (=1.6km ) you will receive an email detailing its actual location. See www.pathwaystopalestine.com
