International Women’s Day show at Town Hall Theatre

Comedy, song, story, and craic from Mairéad Hurley, Ruth McGill, Jördis Tielsch, Rosita Boland, Janet Moran, Leontia Flynn, and Emily Ashmore

COURAGE, HOPE & Laughter is the title of a show taking place in the Town Hall Theatre to mark International Women’s Day on Tuesday March 8.

Presented by WOW Productions, the show will be hosted by comedian Emily Ashmore, winner of the Cherry Comedy Breakout Act of the Year 2019 award, and who has performed at the Vodafone Comedy Festival, Electric Picnic, and the Edinburgh Fringe.

The line-up for the show features Rosita Boland, the award winning journalist and senior features writer with The Irish Times; Connemara-based concertina player Mairéad Hurley; and Ruth McGill, the acclaimed actress, singer, and musician.

Also performing will be Jördis Tielsch, a folk singer-songwriter and fiddle player based in Cologne, and who recently released the album New Mornings; and Janet Moran, who co-wrote and performed in the hit play Swing, and who wrote and directed A Holy Show which played a sell-out run at the Peacock Theatre and Edinburgh Fringe.

Leontia Flynn, who has published four collections of poetry, and who was a winner of The Irish Times Poetry Prize and The Forward prize for best First Collection, the Rooney Prize for Irish literature, and the AWB Vincent American Ireland Fund Literary Award, will read from her work.
