Gig Economy #1

A micro-music festival on a Saturday afternoon in a Galway beer garden

GIG ECONOMY #1 is a new, micro-music festival, taking place this Saturday, March 5, at the Caravan Club, the beer garden of Carroll’s Bar, Dominick Street.

Presented by local music promoters Trusted Trail, Gig Economy will feature three acclaimed Galway underground music acts - So Cow, A Lilac Decline, and Field Trip.

Brain Kelly is the solo guise of So Cow's Brian Kelly, the legendary Tuam indie-rocker described by Pitchfork as playing "rickety guitar-pop that sounds homemade without feeling insular - sing-along hooks and scruffy charm abound."

Field Trip, described by the Galway Advertiser as "connoisseurs of the finest traditions of eighties and nineties indie" will be represented via a solo set by mainman Wayne Foy.

The afternoon will be kicked off by A Lilac Decline, the musical guise of visual artist Cecilia Danell whose songs have "a ghostly, hazy beauty that is hypnotic and easy to get lost in", according to Terrascope.

This event has been made possible with the assistance of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media.

The event begins at 3pm. Admission is free and early attendance is advised.
