THE SITKOVETSKY Trio have a reputation for delivering sensational performances in concert halls around the world, and Galway will see why when they perform in the city in March.
The trio - Alexander Sitkovetsky (violin ), Wu Qian (piano ), and Isang Enders (cellist ) - play the Emily Anderson Concert Hall at NUI Galway on Thursday March 10 at 8pm.
Their tailor-made Galway programme includes very different takes on the piano trio format, opening and closing with two large works and stalwarts of the repertoire - Beethoven’s early and melodious Piano Trio Op 1 No 2, and Ravel’s markedly different musical sensibility in Trio.
Also being performed will be ‘Freak Show’, a work composed by Sam Perkin, a former composer in residence for Music for Galway, and who is renowned for his insightful and delicate compositions.
First prize-winners of the International Commerzbank Chamber Music Award, the trio is also a recipient of the Nordmetall Chamber Music Award at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and the Philharmonia-Martin Chamber Music Award. They have been supported by the Hattori Foundation, the Musicians Benevolent Fund, the Fidelio Trust and the Swiss Global Artistic Foundation.
This is a Music for Galway concert. Tickets are €20/18/16/6 via www.musicforgalway.ie or 091 - 705962.
