Appeals for witnesses to assaults in Galway

Incidents took place on Market Street and Prospect Hill

Gardaí in Galway are appealing for witnesses following two alleged inciodents of assualt which took place last weekend in the city.

On Sunday February 6 between 2.30am and 3am, a young woman was walking along Market Street when approached by another woman. Following a brief interaction it is alleged she was assaulted by this woman.

There were a large number of people in the area at the time and gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the altercation or the alleged assault to make contact. They are further appealing to a number of taxi drivers who are believed to have passed through the area around the time of the alleged incident that may have camera and/or dash-cam footage to make the footage available to investigating gardaí.

Incident on Prospect Hill

On Sunday February 6 at approximately 3am two young males were on Prospect Hill when it is alleged an altercation took place with a group of between seven and 10 young males.

During the altercation both males were allegedly assaulted by members of the group. The males in the group are described as being between 16 and 18 years of age. There were a number of people and vehicles, particularly taxis in the area at the time of the alleged assault and gardaí are anxious to speak with anyone that was in the Prospect Hill area at around 3am on Sunday and may have witnessed the altercation taking place or anyone that may have captured the incident on camera and/or dash cam to make contact with investigating gardaí.
