An interesting Galway FA premier division season continues to unfold with several important matches imminent.

Crucial games are arriving thick and fast for Athenry, who host Mervue United on Saturday in Moonbaun.

Seamie Crowe's Athenry shrugged off Tuam Celtic's resistance on Friday to chalk up a 4-1 away win.

Stephen Relihan, Gary Shanahan, Dan Cunningham, and Ryan Shaughnessy scored for Athenry with Gavan Connell replying for Tuam.

Salthill Devon cruised to a convincing 5-1 victory over Maree-Oranmore with former Galway United and Athlone Town player Cormac Raftery contributing a goal. Lucas, Timmy Molloy 2, and Mikey Fox also struck for Victor Collins' charges with Liam McDonagh on target for Maree-Oranmore.

Devon face Loughrea, who produced a gutsy display to draw with West United on Sunday as Kieran Bane rifled a splendid leveller.

Matthew Barrett scored for West, who are in action at O'Connor Park again when hosting St Bernard's on Sunday.Eoghan Roche supplied the only goal of the game as the Abbeyknockmoy side defeated Galway Hibernians.

Stephen Walsh's Galway Hibs are away to Tuam Celtic on Friday evening in an important encounter for both clubs.Noel McDonnnell's Mervue United prevailed in Annaghdown against Corrib Celtic with Gary Bailey, Robert Carroll, and Aaron Molloy grabbing goals.

Keith Greaney was Corrib Celtic's goalscorer and they are at home to an improving Corrib Rangers on Sunday.

Jimmy Jennings' outfit enjoyed a fine 3-2 triumph over Colemanstown with Geoffrey Power clipping a brace for Rangers.

With four teams to be relegated at the end of the campaign Maree-Oranmore's tussle with Colemanstown on Saturday afternoon is another fixture carrying deep significance.
