Anam Productions (formerly Galway Actors Workshop ) has announced in-person, face-to-face, spring acting courses for beginners and improvers.
Acting for beginners will take place on Mondays from 7pm to 10pm, starting February 4 and running for 10 weeks to April 11. Starting with fun, imaginative, games and confidence-building exercises, students will get a taster of all the major areas of an actor's training - cultivating presence, playfulness, voice, movement, and characterisation. This will lead to an experience of the rehearsal process through working on scenes with an in-house sharing of work at the end.
The continuation course, Scene Study, will take place on Wednesdays from 7pm to 10pm, starting on February 16. This course builds on skills encountered in the beginners course and leads students deeper into the process of working on scenes from established plays. Over 12 sessions they will be guided through the process, from read through to a live performance at the Town Hall Theatre on May 10.
