This Sunday, January 30, marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most shocking atrocities of the Northern Ireland conflict - Bloody Sunday.
On Sunday January 30 1972, 13 innocent people were massacred in Derry by soldiers of the British Parachute Regiment following a peaceful Civil Rights march. Later, another person died of wounds in hospital.
This Sunday at 4pm, Galway Sinn Féin will hold a memorial service for the 14 victims at the Liam Mellows statue in Eyre Square. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
