THE WATERBOYS’ Steve Wickham, and actor Karl Quinn, will explore our recent experiences of life during a pandemic, with the ‘music play’, Breath.
Presented by Carpet Theatre, Breath comes to the Town Hall Theatre on Friday January 28 at 6.30pm, and it is a show where music is integral to telling the story, so expect a mix of classical, folk, and rock on fiddle, viola, concertina, and didgeridoo.
The play centres on a man for whom family life is becoming increasingly pressurised during the pandemic. There is the sanitising, the news overload, Zoom, online yoga, home baking, dancing in the kitchen...but one sneeze could blow it all apart.

The director is Ciarán Taylor who calls Breath, “a lively reflection on the everyday experiences of the past two years which many of us share. It’s a quirky look at the familiar, which we hope will do what theatre does best, helping us to make sense of things together.”
A member of The Waterboys since the 1980s, Steve Wickham has also worked with U2 and Sinéad O’Connor; released solo albums; composed and performed music for film and theatre; and worked with Ciarán Taylor and Karl Quinn on Pigeon and the site-specific Wexford Firestation Tour.
