Conchúr White to play Róisín Dubh

Armagh musician has been compared to Father John Misty and Lana Del Rey

CONCHÚR WHITE, the Armagh singer-songwriter who has been compared to Father John Misty and Lana Del Rey by earmilk.com, is about to play the Róisín Dubh.

White, who has been praised for his “sardonically astute lyricism and a sophisticated musical knack”, by The Line Of Best Fit, plays the Dominick Street venue on Sunday February 6 at 8pm.

Previously a member of the band Silences, White released his debut EP, Bikini Crops, in 2020, and followed this last year with the Dreamers EP, which produced the singles, ‘Vocation/Vacation’ and ‘Go Easy’.

Speaking about the EP, White said: “It’s about feeling silly for having dreams or aspirations beyond what you’ve known, so you make excuses or self sabotage. I worked with a lot of young people from the local area who at such a young age felt like they wouldn’t go beyond where they were, which was quite sad. The main message is we all have a right to dream and aspire for something more, whether it seems silly or not.”

White’s music has been played on British radio by such influential broadcasters as Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, and Elbow’s Guy Garvey. He has performed with Villagers, David Keenan, and Josh Ritter.
