NUIG Mystics want to secure national silverware

On Sunday NUIG Mystics face Griffith College Templeogue in the Women's Division One National Cup Final.

It promises to be an interesting encounter at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght with Mystics continuing to impress in league action.

On Saturday NUIG Mystics got the better of Tipperary Knights in their clash, winning 92-65. NUIG Mystics had Áine McDonagh (17 points ) and Hazel Finn (16 points ) to thank for their efforts in attack.

Moycullen bring Superleague basketball back to NUIG Sports Arena after an almost two month hiatus when they play one of the blue-bloods of Irish basketball, Killester on Sunday (3pm ).

Moycullen’s last home game was on 14 November when they lost a thriller to DBS Eanna 82-84.

“I don’t know if I have ever been part of a season where such a high percentage of our games have come down to the final possession,” Moycullen's Joe Tummon says.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t always executed well in the final minutes and we’ve been on the wrong end of those games more often than not. But we are putting ourselves in positions to win and that is a huge positive.”

Moycullen’s last two weekends, both road trips to Dublin for away games, captured that narrow edge between winning and losing. A gritty win against DCU Saints by seven points was followed up last Saturday by a heartbreaking three point defeat to Templeogue.
