Ballindereen hosts Galway United's first pre-season friendly against Finn Harps on Sunday (2.30pm ).
United played at the venue in 1991 in a European Cup Winners Cup clash against a star studded Odense outfit.
A fundraiser for the Keith William Carr fund the Harps game affords United an opportunity to assess some players, who have been on trial with the club since Monday according to manager John Caulfield.
"It is great, we have been asked by Ballindereen would we go out to play a match there," Caulfield says.
"We thank Finn Harps for coming down to play the game. We are really looking forward to going out and there is a bit of a buzz in the parish. They expect to have a very big crowd coming to the game with all of the Covid rules.
"The main thing out in that ground is that they can spread the people all around the ground. For our supporters it is a handy one for a good cause and also it will be a chance to see a lot of our new players and even some of the players we have on trial."
Following a busy stint off the pitch, Caulfield was delighted to return to pre-season training on Monday.
"We are very happy, it is always exciting when you go back for your first couple of days because you have players from last season, you obviously have new signings and even some players on trial. There is always a lot of excitement. It gives us a feel of what the players are going to be like."
