Poets and playwrights go Over The Edge

January reading marks literary event’s 19th birthday, and launch of latest issue of Skylight 47

POETS AND playwrights, and the launch of issue 15 of Skylight 47, will make up the first Over The Edge: Open Reading of 2022.

The event, which takes place via Zoom on Thursday January 20 at 6.30pm, will also be something of a milestone for OTE as it marks its 19th birthday. The readers will be Deirdre Hines, John Noonan, and Daniel Wade. The MC will be Susan Millar DuMars.

Deirdre Hines was born in Liverpool and lives in Donegal. She has written several plays, of which Howling Moons, Silent Sons won the Stewart Parker Award for Best New Play in 1992. She was shortlisted for the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award in 2010, and won the Listowel Poetry Collection in 2011. Her debut poetry collection, The Language of Coats, was published by New Island Press in 2012.

John Noonan’s work has been published in Poetry Ireland Review, Crannóg, Skylight 47, Revival Press, Drawn To the Light Press, Pinewood Review, and Poppy Road Review. His first play, Winter Window, was performed in 2018.

Daniel Wade is the Hennessy New Irish Writing winner for April 2015 in The Irish Times. In 2017, his play, The Collector, was staged at the New Theatre, Dublin. His debut poetry collection, Rapids, and his novel, A Land Without Wolves, were published last year.

Deirdre Hines will also launch issue 15 of poetry magazine Skylight 47, edited by Bernie Crawford, Nicki Griffin, and Ruth Quinlan. There will be readings by contributors.
