THE EARTH Dies Screaming, the new exhibition from Galway artist, Austin Ivers, opens tomorrow, Friday December 3, at the 126 Artist-Run Gallery & Studios.
In a climate of the Covid pandemic and climate change, this exhibition looks back to another era wehen humanity was on the brink of self-exterminaiton - the Cold War and the nuclear bomb. There will be new and appropriated video works, sounds, items on walls and floors, photos, boxes, and prints.
Austin Ivers is a Galway based artist and educator. Having initially studied printmaking in LSAD and CCAD, his practice has been almost exclusively digital objects for more than 20 years. He has had one-person shows in the Galway Arts Centre, 126, and in Carrick-on Shannon and exhibited in group shows at the RHA Annual, TULCA, and Gregory Sholette’s Imaginary Archive.
The gallery is located at 15 St Bridget’s Place, Hidden Valley, Woodquay. The opening is from 6pm to 9pm. The preview event will be in 30 minute slots pre-booked through Eventbrite, and attendees must wear a mask. Walk-ins may be admitted if space is available.
