Little Shop Of Horrors - musical theatre is back with a bite

Claregalway’s 9 Arch Musical Society presents first AIMS musical theatre in Ireland since easing of Covid restrictions

LITTLE SHOP Of Horrors, the comedy rock musical about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on humans, is coming to the Town Hall

9 Arch Claregalway Musical Society will present the first AIMS musical theatre production in Ireland following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. The production will run at the Town Hall Theatre from Wednesday November 17 to Saturday 20.

Seymour Krelborn, who works at the run-down Mushnik's Skid Row Florists, obtains a mysterious plant that looks like a large venus flytrap. Then, a sudden eclipse of the sun occurs, and when the light returns, the weird plant has come to life and it wants human flesh and blood to feed on. What is Seymour to do, and how will this affect his attempts to win the heart of his co-worker Audrey?

The cast is Jay Molyneux (Seymour ), Marilyn Bane (Audrey ), Jay Hall (Mushnik ), David Alexander (Orin ), with Jessica McDonagh, Megan Folan, and Niamh McSweeney as The Ronettes.  The show is directed by Alan Greaney. The musical director is Shane Farrell. Choreography is by Jay Molyneux.

“We had originally planned to perform Oklahoma, but due to the government guidelines, we had to accommodate a smaller cast,” said a 9 Arch spokesperson. “Little Shop of Horrors is a fantastic choice for us, with a slightly smaller cast than usual. We are delighted to be leading the way back to musical theatre and welcoming everyone back to the Town Hall. And remember....don’t feed the plant and definitely don’t plant the seeds.”

Tickets are available from the Town Hall (091 - 569777, www.tht.ie ).
