THE LOST Brothers, the RTE Folk Award nominees, are finally able to tour their album, After The Fire After The Rain, and will perform this critically acclaimed work in Galway this month.
The band - Oisin Leech and Mark McCausland - will play the Town Hall Theatre on Sunday November 14, with special guest Dónal Lunny, a titan of Irish folk, having been a member of Planxty, Moving Hearts and The Bothy Band, and also via his work as a producer.
“We’ve played the Galway Arts Festival in Monroes and Róisín Dubh a couple of times,“ says Oisin Leech, “and it’s always very special coming to a gig in Galway. The Leech’s are originally from Kinvara so we might take a trip over there before the gig.”
Leech and McCausland joined forces in Liverpool in 2008, eventually recording their debut album in Portland, Oregon. Since then, they have released six acclaimed albums and toured internationally. During that time they have collaborated with the likes of Brendan Benson of The Raconteurs and members of The Coral.
For After The Fire After The Rain, they were joined by Bob Dylan’s long time bass player Tony Garnier, indie singer-songwriter M Ward, Giant Sand’s Howe Gelb, and The Waterboys’ Steve Wickham - hinting at the kind of respect this duo commands.
After The Fire After The Rain was shortlisted for Best Album at The Northern Ireland Music Prize while MOJO, Rough Trade, Hot Press and The Irish Times listed it among their ‘Albums Of The Year’.
Tickets are available via the Town Hall (091 - 569777, www.tht.ie ). See also www.thelostbrothersband.com
