Eyes On The Horizon - live outdoor music for October

Leading Galway musicians to perform at this new series of outdoor performances and happenings

Leading Galway bands and singers, like Rofi James, Galway Street Club, Marc Roberts, Eoin Dolan, and Katie O’Connor and Steven Sharpe, will play Eyes On The Horizon, the new series of outdoor performances and happenings.

Eyes On The Horizon, presented by the Galway City Council will take place over three weekends, beginning this weekend - Saturday October 2 and Sunday 3 - and running until October 17, featuring more than 40 performances, and ranging from rock to trad to jazz, as well as featuring storytelling, dance, and spectacle. All events are free and family-friendly.

The shows this Saturday and Sunday will feature indie vocalist/composer Anna Mullarkey, joined by James Riordan, Sam Wright, and Paul McClure; To Gaze Upon Us (singer-songwriters Katie O’Connor and Steven Sharpe ); circus performer Stephen McGinley; Claire Sheehan; Drumadore Drum School; Sinead Ann, REYLTA, and Sonney Casey; Of Land and Sea (Óral McGovern and Sinead Hayes ); Aneta Dortová and Mayo Yanachi; The Rascals; The Fixers; David Owens; and The Grand Stretch Band.

There will also be the ‘Trad at The Small Crane Sunday Lunchtime Specials’, starting this Sunday at 1pm with John Faulkner and Connor McCarty and at 2.30pm by the Galway International Retro Orchestra. October 10 will see Sean Ryan, Ciara Callinan-Ryan, and Kathleen Loughnane at 1pm and Niall Teague & The Fast Company at 2.30pm. On October 17 at 1pm it will be The Crane House Band and at 2.30pm it will be a trad session group, OGMA. These will be free ticketed events. Tickets will be available via www.galwaysessions.com

“The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted everyday life and cultural expression around the nation and across the world,” said a spokesperson for the Galway City Council. “This programme aims to provide the people of Galway with the opportunity to experience great art and culture on their doorstep.”

The events are taking place under the Local Live Performance Programming Scheme, funded by The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
