United U17s advance in Mark Farren Cup

Another important weekend of action beckons

James Lukua's goal on Saturday against Athlone Town in the midlands steered Martin Devlin's Galway United U17s into the semi-final of the Mark Farren Cup.

Ultimately, a tight match was decided by Lukua's strike ensuring Devlin's side remain in the hunt for silverware. This weekend United host Cork City in the Shield.

Anthony O'Neill's Galway United U15s drew 1-1 with Shelbourne at Eamonn Deacy Park on Sunday afternoon. Adam Lavelle scored for United, who travel Leeside to face Cork City in a cup quarter-final next.

A talented Shamrock Rovers U19 outfit proved too strong for United in Maree, emerging convincing victors. Brendan O'Connor's charges are at home again on Sunday against Cork City.

Xavi Vazquez's United U14 team make a trip south on Saturday for a game with a highly regarded Cobh Ramblers.

Galway WFC U17s suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat away to Treaty, while the U19s were beaten by a strong Athlone Town collection 4-2 in Dangan.

Athlone, who featured a number of promising first team players, produced an excellent display. Abbie Callanan and Saoirse Healey scored in the second half, but sufficient Athlone damage had already been inflicted.

Phil Trill's U17s are at home to Peamount United on Saturday, with the U19s away to the same opposition on Sunday.
