A total of €20.6 million in payments from the Areas of Natural Constraint scheme have been issued to 11,825 Galway farmers.
The payments have been welcomed by the Independent Galway East TD, Sean Canney, who said “the timely delivery of payments under the ANC scheme is vital for the survival of the farm families”. He said the payments represent “a timely and significant financial boost for farmers” and for the wider rural economy.
The Department will continue to process, as a matter of urgency, all remaining cases for payment as they meet scheme criteria.
