Completing a GRETB training course offers many benefits from a personal and career perspective. It can provide you with access to employment opportunities in the future by developing your skills to compete in the employment market.

GRETB places a strong emphasis on offering courses that provide substantive work placements providing excellent career paths. All courses are certified and accredited by national and internationally recognised examining and professional bodies.

From September 2021 GRETB Training Centre has a variety of online courses including ICDL, payroll, CompTIA A+, door security and guarding skills, and infection prevention and control.

Driving courses include bus/mini bus driving, HGV rigid, employment skills (forklift, SafePass, and manual handling ), and RSA approved driving instructor course.

Traineeships such as the IT support specialist, beauty therapy, and pharmacy retail sales offer practical work placements opening doors to a career in these industries.

The centre has fully equipped workshops for carpentry and joinery, plumbing, electrical, motor mechanic, and metal fabrication for apprenticeship delivery and CAD/CNC and welding.

Apprenticeship programmes for Galway and Roscommon are administered through the GRETB Training Centre. An apprenticeship is a programme which combines learning in the workplace with learning in a training centre or educational college. They vary from two to four years in duration and range from QQI Level 5 to QQI Level 9. As well as the traditional trades such as plumbing and electrical, there are apprenticeships in auctioneering, manufacturing, software developer, accounting technician, insurance practitioner, and many more.

The cleanroom, packaging, and environmental awareness course offers training to those wishing to seek employment in the medical device manufacturing industry in Galway. There is a six-week work placement included in this 21-week programme. It is an excellent gateway to a career in the industry.

Under the Government funded Skills to Advance initiative, employers can avail of highly and fully funded training to help and benefit their organisation, whether to improve their employees’ skills level, respond to the changing nature of business, or help them take advantage of emerging opportunities. Upskilling staff is central to delivering long term sustainable growth and also coping and adapting to the rapid change we have experienced in the past year. Courses available under this initiative include payroll (manual and computerised ), supervisory management, customer service in industry, digital marketing, and human resources.
