SHARON SHANNON, Hudson Taylor, The Frank and Walters, and Kíla are just a few of the names that will be headlining gigs at Monroe’s Live as live music returns to the Dominick Street venue.
The shows, supported by Minister Catherine Martin, and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, are being billed as the ‘Bringing It All Back Home LIVE series’.
Folk/trad
Sharon Shannon, one of the best loved of all Irish folk and trad musicians, will headline on Monday October 18, where she will be joined by special guests. Indeed, folk and trad fans have much to look forward to with shows by innovative trad/world music band Kíla on Saturday October 16, with special guest Peter O'Toole; Donegal trio, The Henry Girls, will bring their exquisite vocal harmonies to the venue on Sunday October 17, with support from Emma Langford; and the imaginative new Irish trad act Moxie, with Aopife Scott, on Tuesday September 21.
Indie-rock
The series itself starts on Tuesday September 7 with singer-songwriter Róisín O, followed by two shows from Hudson Taylor at 4pm and 8pm on Thursday 9.
Irish post-rock band God Is An Astronaut play on Monday 13; while long running Irish indie-rock favourites, Ham Sandwich, are on Sunday 19. An Irish indie-rock institution, The Frank and Walters - who can bopast how Radiohead used to be their support act - play on Friday 24.
Other shows
Rapper, producer and songwriter MuRli, from Limerick, best known for his work as part of Rusangano Family, plays on Saturday 25; Jack O’Rourke and SÍOMHA play on Sunday 26 at 4pm; Duke Special, with support from Loughrea singer-songwriter, Ultan Conlon, play the evening of Sunday 26. On Sunday October 3, Columbia Mills will play, with support from Galway indie-surf rock singer-songwriter, Eoin Dolan.
Bringing a cabaret atmosphere to Monroe’s will be shows by Jerry Fish on Monday 20 and Camille O’Sullivan on Tuesday 28.
All shows are at 8pm unless otherwise stated. Tickets are on sale via www.monroes.ie There will be theatre style seating for the shows and tickets will be sold in pods of four and two, with a limited number of single tickets available for each show. Performances are subject to public health guidelines at the time of show.
