See you in September at the Town Hall

Galway International Arts Festival shows, comedy from Neil Delamare, gigs from Paddy Casey...

IN PERSON shows, online events, festivals, and concerts - after a long absence, it is all happening once again at the Town Hall Theatre.

Over the coming weeks the THT will stage shows from the Abbey, Decadent, Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival; music from The 4 of Us and Paddy Casey; and comedy from Julie Jay, Kevin McGahern, and Neil Delamere.

Theatre

The Town Hall has partnered with the Abbey Theatre to stream its production of Walls and Windows tomorrow, Friday August 27, and Saturday 28 - a world premiere of the new play from Rosaleen McDonagh, a love story examining how external circumstances pull us apart, when all we really want is to be together. It will be available on-demand until September 11.

As part of the Galway International Arts Festival, the Town Hall will present Decadent Theatre’s production of Kevin Barry’s There Are Little Kingdoms (September 1 to 11 ) and GIAF Landmark production of Medicine by Enda Walsh at the Black Box (in person shows are sold out but tickets are still available for the livestream and on demand performances )..

Music

On Friday September 17, the Town Hall will celebrate Culture Night with the award-winning soprano, Aimee Banks, accompanied by Colm Henry (keyboards ) and special guest, David Kennedy, in a free but ticketed, in-person and online event.

On Saturday 18, The 4 of Us will be in concert, while on Tuesday September 28 it is singer-songwriter, Paddy Casey, who has just released his new album, Turn This Ship Around. “I think it’s the best album I’ve made so far,” he said. “There are a few magic moments throughout that I’m pretty proud of and some bits I just let happen and took me by surprise. One side is kind of folk vibes while the other is more upbeat and full of my favourite toys and noises.”

Comedy

Julie Jay, one of the most exciting new voices on the Irish comedy scene, performs her new show, Julie Really Love Me, on Saturday September 25 at 6pm. That night at 9pm, Kevin McGahern, former host of RTÉ’s celebrated Republic of Telly show for 10 seasons, takes to the stage. To end the weekend, award-winning comedian Neil Delamere performs his new show, Pick N’ Mix, on Sunday 26 at 6pm and 9pm.

Something different

On Saturday 25 at 1pm, Manchán Magan will present his acclaimed show Arán & Im - a stunning theatrical performance in which Manchán bakes sourdough bread for 70 minutes while offering insights into the wonders of the Irish language.

The Dyke Road Car Park will be the location for Park’n’Party, a live, drive-in, family-friendly show on Sat 28 August. Hosted by Ryan Andrews (Fair City, Dancing with the Stars ) and Irish social media celebrity, James Patrice.

Tickets for all events are limited, so early booking via www.tht.ie is advised. To keep everyone safe, capacity, social distancing, and any additional requirements for entry to live performances will be in line with the Government guidelines.
