Poetry workshops in September

Kevin Higgins to teach poetry workshops for beginner and advanced levels

POETRY WORKSHOPS from beginner to advanced levels, with the poet, Kevin Higgins, begin in September and take place via Zoom.

Classes for complete beginners, as well as those who have been writing for some time, take place on Tuesdays (7pm to 8.30pm ), starting September 21 and Fridays (2pm to 3.30pm ), starting September 24.

An advanced poetry workshop, suitable for those who have participated in poetry workshops before or had poems published, is on Thursdays (2pm to 4pm ) and starts on September 23.

Participants should not worry about the technology. Full details of precisely how the workshop will function online will be explained during the first session.

Kevin Higgins is the author of the poetry collections The Boy With No Face (2006 ), Time Gentlemen, Please (2008 ), Frightening New Furniture (2010 ), Song of Songs 2.0: New & Selected Poems (2017 ), Sex and Death at Merlin Park Hospital (2019 ), and a collection of Kevin’s essays and book reviews, Mentioning The War (2012 ), are all published by Salmon. Salmon will also publish his forthcoming collection, Ecstatic, in March 2021.

The classes are being facilitated by the Galway Arts Centre. The cost for each class is €110. Places must be paid for in advance. To book, contact the Galway Arts Centre, 47 Dominick Street (091 - 565886, [email protected] ), or www.galwayartscentre.ie/courses.
