Another busy weekend ahead in the national underage leagues

Galway WFC U17s face a tough test away to Athlone Town

Phil Trill's Galway WFC U17 outfit enjoyed a convincing 6-1 win over Bohemians at Dangan on Saturday afternoon.

Having lost to Shamrock Rovers the previous week, Galway were eager to respond.

Ciara Coen and Elisa Bohan both scored twice while Eabha O'Riordan and Isabelle Fitzpatrick, who struck her sixth goal of the campaign also netted.

This weekend Galway are away to Athlone, who produced a determined display when Trill's side eventually prevailed last month.

Galway United's U19s were defeated 0-2 by Shelbourne at Maree/Oranmore's splendid facility on Sunday.

In a game sensibly refereed by Joe Hession, United battled throughout, but Shels clipped two first half goals.

An away fixture against Wexford FC is next on the agenda for Brendan O'Connor's side.

Anthony O'Neill's rapidly improving United U15 team proved too strong for Limerick FC in the Cup at Hogan Park emerging 0-6 victors.

Jack Weesjes, Alan Zimmerer, Evan Moran (2 ), Junior Thiam, and the promising Kyle Fitzgerald were all on target for United, who play Longford in the league this Sunday.

Xavi Vazquez's United U14s were also in Cup action, eventually shrugging off the Mayo League's spirited resistance at Milebush.

Mayo twice came from behind to draw level, but a determined Galway finished strongly.

Charlie Killeen, Donnacha Sammon (2 ), and Jacob Carroll, who brought his 2021 account to five at this level, all netted for Galway, who also defeated Dundalk in the league on Tuesday evening at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Sammon (2 ), Conor Kelly, and Kyle Fitzgerald all scored for United, who play Longford in the league on Saturday.

Martin Devlin's well organised U17 team are away to Wexford on Saturday at Ferrycarrig Park.
