An SSE Aitricity League first division season loaded with intrigue continues.

On Friday evening in sultry conditions at the Carlisle Grounds Galway United just couldn't manage to rattle the Bray Wanderers net.

Gary Cronin's physically imposing and well organised Bray Wanderers outfit contributed to an interesting encounter.

Prompted by the midfield industry of Conor McCormack, Gary Boylan, and David Hurley, United controlled vast chunks of the first half.

Within two minutes Wilson Waweru had forced a good save from Bray custodian Brian Maher as United sought to land an early blow.

United tested the home side, who survived a string of dangerous set piece deliveries from McCormack and Hurley.

At the opposite end of the pitch United custodian Conor Kearns was alert to thwart Dylan Barnett in the 17th minute.

Waweru and Hurley fashioned a chance on 26 for Ruairi Keating, who was denied by the woodwork.

Despite all of United's invention when the interval rolled around the teams still departed deadlocked.

After the restart Hurley whipped a free kick narrowly wide as United continued to probe.

Bray had opportunities too with substitute Sam Verdon heading over.

It stayed lively until the end as Keating and Boylan went close for John Caulfield's improving team in additional time.

Then goalkeeper Maher made an excellent save from a deflected Keating effort. Parity prevailed by the seaside.
