Wine of the Week – Navesur Verdejo 2020

Check out Joyce’s new and exclusive wine range from Spain and Portugal, selected by Masters of Wine student Antonia Dominguez from Antonia’s Wines.

Antonia Dominguez was born in Jerez, Spain, famed for its sherry production, and was raised in Ireland. She is a holder of the WSET Level 4 diploma in wines and spirits and is currently a student on the prestigious Masters of Wine programme, currently the only MW student in Ireland. Her expertise stretches far beyond Spanish wines, extending to all notable wine regions of the world. Using her meticulous and quality-orientated selection process, she sources unique, stand-out, wines at a range of price points and styles, representing wineries from both undiscovered and classic regions. Her selection is based on offering expressive wines with personality, and on bringing Irish consumers as close as possible to an authentic wine experience.

This week Joyce's is highlighting the fresh, aromatic, Navesur Verdejo from one of Spain’s leading regions for white wines, Rueda. A great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc, Verdejo shares similar lean, citrus, and green fruit character, but offers a little more ripeness. A variety on the rise, Verdejo is fresh with an aromatic lime-lemon citrus character and crisp acidity.

Voted one of Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Best Buys of the world, this Navesur Verdejo, selected for Joyce’s new wine range, is no exception. Fresh, aromatic with attractive floral, apple, and citrus notes, and lively acidity, this wine delivers a great deal of quality at a sensational price point. If you like Sauvignon Blanc, you will love this wine.

Navesur Verdejo is a perfect summer white to be enjoyed on its own or paired with tapas-style seafood dishes - pan-friend garlic and chilli prawns, grilled or fried calamari, monkfish goujons, and mixed salads, to name a few. It is a versatile wine that can be matched with almost any seafood, chicken, or light pasta dish.
