"ISN’T THERE hope for the country with The Mary Wallopers in it." So said Tommy Tiernan about the raucous Irish folk band who are playing the Róisín Dubh later this year.
The Mary Wallopers, from Dundalk, have won notice for their breathing new life into both well known and rare ballads. Hotpress said their “charm and irreverence is matched only by their staggering talent", while others have likened them to a cross between The Clancy Brothers and the Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten.
The Mary Wallopers play the Róisín Dubh on Tuesday December 28 at 8pm. Tickets are available from www.roisindubh.net
