Bio week at Coole Park

Coole Park will host Biodiversity week from 17 to 24 of May. The annual event is held throughout the country and celebrates the diverse range of Ireland’s habitats, and their associated flora and fauna.

On Sunday there will be a talk and walk with Niamh Quinn, a mammal zoologist with the Zoology Department in NUIG. Starting at 2pm, there will be a visual presentation followed by a walk in the park in search of signs of small mammals.

Coole is home to many small mammals. The day will be informative and fun with a chance to learn about bank voles, pygmy shrews and wood-mice.

Coole Park Visitor Centre is now open daily from 10am to 5pm. The tearoom is open from 10.30am to 5pm and the park is open every day until 7.30pm.

There is no charge for the event, and no need to book.
