Climate Ready – talent for Ireland’s Green Economy

Climate change is transforming the business landscape, presenting new challenges and shared opportunities for Irish businesses.

Skillnet Ireland is committed to supporting businesses in taking crucial steps towards a sustainable future by developing the talent they need to thrive in the green economy.

This commitment is underpinned by Climate Ready , a new five-year initiative which will equip businesses with the practical skills and knowledge they need to respond to climate change.

Through Climate Ready, Irish businesses will have access to the support needed to continue to transform ambitions into practical solutions which can deliver real results for our economy, our workforce, and our climate.

Paul Healy, Skillnet Ireland Chief Executive, says: “Practically every industry, business and job will be impacted by climate action in some way over the coming decade. Working side by side with industry, we have developed Climate Ready to ensure Irish businesses have access to the leading edge supports they need to build sustainable operating models and develop the talent to respond to this shift. Taking action now is critical to ensuring our businesses remain resilient and competitive as we tackle the challenges posed by climate change.”

Developed in partnership with industries at the forefront of the climate challenge, Climate Ready leverages the support of Chambers Ireland, Wind Energy Ireland, Sustainable Finance Ireland, and Central Solutions, to deliver agile and responsive solutions that meet the demands of businesses.

The initiative is established on three core pillars: Climate Ready Academy, Climate Ready Cluster, and Climate Ready Insights. The Climate Ready Academy offers a suite of practical and specialised learning supports for businesses in the areas of climate action and sustainability to equip them with practical skills and knowledge

Building on the strong track record demonstrated by Skillnet Ireland in the areas of renewable energy, clean water, and sustainable finance, the Climate Ready Cluster consists of a dynamic group of Skillnet Business Networks already delivering substantial expertise for Irish businesses in key green sectors.

Recognising the importance of green-thinking and knowledge of best practices in sustainability for businesses, Climate Ready Insights aims to advance the thinking of businesses and promote sustainability leadership through shared knowledge and industry-led research.

Climate Ready will directly support over 1,100 companies and 3,000 workers throughout Ireland in 2021, expanding year-on-year to 2025.
