Charnwood Symphony Orchestra to play Galway

THE CHARNWOOD Symphony Orchestra, along with the Tribal Chamber Choir, soprano Denise Leigh, and bass Simon Thorpe, will perform works by Brahms, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky in Galway.

The first concert takes place in St Nicholas Collegiate Church on Sunday May 24. On the night Brahms’ Requiem will be performed by the Charnwood orchestra, the blind English soprano Denise Leigh, and Tasmanian bass Simon Thorpe.

The programme also includes the Brahms’ Violin Concerto with soloist Thomas Bowes, who has performed at the BBC proms.

The Charnwood Orchestra will give another concert in Leisureland on Monday 25 performing Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony and Mozart’s Overture to The Magic Flute.

The Tribal Chamber Choir is directed by Mark Keane. It won the Premier Competition for Mixed Voice Choirs at the recent Cork International Choral Festival. They received the highest mark in the Premier Section and were designated National Choir of the Festival.
