Villagers to play Galway in November

Conor O’Brien returns with new album, Fever Dreams, in August, and Irish tour in November

VILLAGERS HAVE today announced a new Irish and British tour which will take in Galway’s Black Box Theatre on November 5.

The tour will be preceded by the release of Villagers new album, Fever Dreams, which comes out on August 20 via Domino. A first taste of what the new album has in store came with the appearance of the new track, ‘The First Day’.

‘The First Day’ was inspired by a trip to the fabled Another Love Story festival in County Meath. Beginning as a snatched electronic doodle, it morphed into a widescreen, lushly cinematic evocation of the joy in human connection.

'Ecstatic and escapist dreams'

Fever Dreams itself was written over the course of two years, with the main bodies of the songs recorded in a series of full-band studio sessions in late 2019 and early 2020. Throughout the pandemic, O’Brien refined them in his home studio in Dublin, and the album was then mixed by David Wrench (Frank Ocean, The xx, FKA Twigs ).

“I had an urge to write something that was as generous to the listener as it was to myself,” O’Brien says on the gestation of Fever Dreams. “Sometimes the most delirious states can produce the most ecstatic, euphoric and escapist dreams.”

This is a ‘Foggy Notions and Strange Brew presents…’ concert. Tickets are available from Friday April 23 at 9am via www.roisindubh.net
