Rachael Blackmore endorses Athenry Camogie Club campaign

Just days before her historic win aboard Minella Times in the Aintree Grand National, Rachael Blackmore took time from her busy schedule to send a quick support call-to-action to the facilities development committee at Athenry Camogie Club. Just over one month ago, the club launched a very ambitious plan to buy, build and develop their very own facilities. Their WinAHouseAndCar initative has garnered a lot of interest locally and nationally.

Speaking of Rachael’s win in Aintree, committee member PJ Molloy, no stranger to sporting success himself, was particularly proud of her achievement.

“To be the first woman to win the Aintree Grand National is unbelievable. It was unheard of not that long ago that a women would even ride the Grand National never mind win it. She is a very committed girl and a sportsperson a lot of people could look up to. She has progressed to the top of her field through nothing but sheer hard work. She had a serious fall on Thursday and to think she rode the winner of the Grand National on the Saturday shows us al the kind of true professional she is.”

Of her endorsement of the Athenry Camogie Club’s venture, which can be viewed on their website and social media channels, PJ added “We are just delighted to have Rachael support our WinAHouseAndCar fundraiser and we thank her for taking the time to send us her support. She is a true champion and great ambassador for women in sport.”
