Galway venues, producers, and promoters urged to apply for new arts funding

€25 million scheme will provide grant funding to live performance venues and production companies

Galway’s arts sector is set to benefit from the Government’s new €25 million support scheme which will provide grant funding to live performance venues and production companies.

This is the extension of a pilot scheme that supported venues and live performances in Galway to the tune of almost €200,000 last year, with the Róisín Dubh and the Black Gate receiving €96,520 between the two venues.

Applications sought

The scheme is aimed at commercial venues, producers, and promoters. Individual awards will range from €10,000 upwards. It will support live performances that will take place on or before September 30 2021 and create employment opportunities in the culture and creative industries, as well as the generation of high-quality output.

.

The scheme has been welcomed by Fine Gael Galway West TD and Minister of State, Hildegarde Naughton. “The arts are part of our identity as a city,” she said. “It’s an integral pillar of our tourism industry and local economy. Every cent that goes into the sector is an extremely good investment for Galway.”

Minister Naughton urged local organisations and individuals to consider applying for funding under the scheme ahead of the closing date on April 14. Further information is available via https://www.gov.ie/en/organisation/department-of-tourism-culture-arts-gaeltacht-sport-and-media.
