The final 10 participants have been selected for You, Fin and the Play Between, the new playwriting programme from Baboró International Arts Festival for Children, Graffiti Theatre and Theatre for Young Audiences Ireland.
The participants are Mark Ball, Diane Crotty, Alexandra Gogan, Shiva R Joyce, Bob Kelly, Mary-Lou McCarthy, Niamh Murphy, Miriam Needham, Jody O’Neill, and Julie Sharkey.
Following close to 100 applications for the programme, which will see participants work closely with world-renowned playwright for young audiences Finegan Kruckemeyer, the 10 successful applicants will partake in virtual mentoring sessions and creative workshops over the next six months to help them develop new pieces of theatre for younger audiences.

“We were overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of the applications,” said Aislinn Ó hEocha, Baboró artistic director. “It is reflective of the appetite for professional development opportunities and the interest in writing plays for children and young people in Ireland. The artists were eager to connect with their peers in a profession which can be solitary, especially at this time.”
The monthly online workshops with the award winning Kruckemeyer, who is based in Australia, are expected to culminate in an in-person attendance at Baboró in Galway, Covid restrictions dependent.
