Ciuddy welcomes ‘significant funding’ for roads in Claregalway and Carnmore

€1.2m for traffic calming and drainage works on the N83 in Claregalway

Long awaited roadworks and repairs in the Claregalway and Carnmore areas are finally set to take place following the allocation of “significant funding”.

The funding was announced following this week’s meeting of the Athenry-Oranmore Municipal District.

The most significant allocation is €1.2m for traffic calming and drainage works on the N83 in Claregalway. The funding has been welcomed by Independent Galway county councillor, Jim Cuddy, who said there is a “serious problem with flooding in the village”.

Other roads allocations include Cloonbiggeen (€72,0000 ), Cloon/Cahergowan (€98,000 ), Gortadooey (€24,140 ), Kiniska (€56,000 ), Gortatleva/Crusheeny (€120,000 ), Carnmore Cross pavement works (€33,600 ), Carnmore west (€20,250 ).

Cllr Cuddy has also welcomed approval for a new pedestrian crossing at the Maldron Hotel in Oranmore, which he said will “significantly improve safety for pedestrians at this busy intersection”.
