Last chance to make views known on Galway City Development Plan

Former mayor encourages Galway to have its say on the future of the city

Friday March 5 is the deadline for submissions to the Galway City Development Plan consultation process, and a former Mayor is encouraging people to make their views known.

"It's your city, help shape it!” said Labour Galway City West councillor, Niall McNelis. “This is our opportunity to set the direction for council for the next five years, and to shape the city we want for the coming decades. If you have a vision for Galway, make sure to share it.”

.

Cllr McNelis said he wants to see Galway become an inclusive, accessible, and vibrant city. “Galway has so much going for it, but there are clear areas of inequality and exclusion,” he said. “Too often control is surrendered to private developers. This is our chance to put the issues we want on the agenda, and decide what we want Galway to be like.”

Making a submission

Submissions, featuring the issue a resident wishes to raise, can be emailed to [email protected] or posted to Senior Planner, Planning Department, City Hall, College Road, Galway, H91 X4K8. There is also an online submission portal via https://www.galwaycity.ie/development-plan-2023-2029.
